Lime Putty (calcium hydroxide paste) has been used in construction for many centuries.  It reduces the absorption of water by other walling materials and allows the wall to breathe.  Mississippi Lime Architectural Lime Putty is manufactured from high purity calcium hydroxide in order to give the surface area and plasticity required for mortars to be able to penetrate into fine crevices and form a strong bond to ensure tensile and compressive strength in the joints.
