1907-1920
Our Company has its origins as the Mississippi Sand Company in Alton, Illinois. Harry B. Mathews, Jr. founded Mississippi Lime in 1907. By 1912 the company had grown into both an aggregates and lime business. Looking to expand his lime base, the Company purchased its first property in Ste. Genevieve County, Missouri in the 1920’s, opening a limestone quarry and building four vertical kilns. By the end of the decade, seven more vertical kilns were built. |

1930-40s
During the 1930’s and 1940’s, Mississippi Lime Company expanded further by acquiring Western Lime Company and the Peerless & Ste. Genevieve Lime Company. Mississippi Lime also began expanding its own operation by constructing rotary kilns. |

1950s
During the 1950’s, our Vertical Precipitated Calcium Carbonate Plant was completed. Four new rotary kilns were also completed, providing more production to meet our customer’s growing needs. |
 |
1970s
During the 1970’s, bag houses were installed at many of the plant locations. The Rotary Precipitated Calcium Carbonate Plant was completed and a new Hydrator was installed. |

1980-2002
The next two decades saw continued growth in capacity and expansion in the lime-based product line. In 1998 another phase of expanded technology and growth started when Mississippi Lime commissioned a new gas-fired kiln at our Ste. Genevieve site. In July 2001, Mississippi Lime purchased the Springfield, Missouri lime operations from Ashgrove Cement. This location produced both Standard and Specialty lime products with gas-fired kiln technology. |

2003
In July, 2003 Mississippi Lime purchased substantially all of the assets of Falco Lime, Inc. located in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Falco Lime’s business was providing high quality lime products and services in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, and Arkansas. In addition to terminal facilities in Vicksburg, Falco also operates two hydrators and has an extensive truck fleet. |
